Zitat :
After a decade of releasing music, Manchester's Soul:R has come to be one the most respected labels in drum & bass. It's sound has grown and developed under the watchful eyes and ears of scene pioneer Marcus Intalex. Unaffected by musical trends, the defining characteristic of the label has always been a soulful vibe with more owed to the Detroit scene than much of the commercially flavoured dnb finding favour with the mainstream. Soul:R boasts a strict quality control policy, which coupled with a talented roster of artists made up of Marcus and a small group of cohorts and collaborators, such as ST Files, Calibre and S.P.Y has left an impressive back catalogue of releases.

After a short break, the label's long standing club night Soul:ution is back in action and going from strength-to-strength with high profile guests including Klute, dBridge and Doc Scott, adding to an already impressive list of residents. Many of the tracks we've featured below have already earned their place as classic drum & bass anthems at the Soul:ution parties and further afield.

The logical place to start this run down of essential Soul:R releases. This is side A, release 001. Play On Me features label boss Marcus Intalex and long-time production collaborator ST Files. Even at this early stage the Soul:R sound is distinct and recognisable. A mysterious sounding synth arpeggio helps to build the track up before submitting to warm housey pads and intermittent brass stabs. The track is easily recognisable by the 90s soul sample permeating the track.....
